Zero International Gasketing and Advantage Lites
Sound Control and STC Solutions
Zero International manufacturers high-performance gasketing systems designed to block noise transmission through door assemblies. These components, often marketed as “Sound Traps,” use compressible neoprene and silicone seals to seal the perimeter gaps between the door and frame. When installed correctly, these systems enable standard hollow-metal or wood doors to achieve Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings exceeding 50. Acoustical consultants specify these assemblies for recording studios, executive boardrooms, and secure government facilities where speech privacy is mandatory. The adjustable perimeter seals also allow installers to compensate for frame irregularities, helping maintain a tight acoustic barrier throughout the building’s life.
Advantage Lites and Louvers
Zero’s product range is vast and varied, encompassing Advantage Lites & Louvers, which specializes in manufacturing vision kits and door ventilators for commercial openings. The product line features a signature low-profile beveled frame design that sits tight against the door face, minimizing protrusion to prevent damage from passing carts and equipment. For applications requiring airflow, inverted split-Y blade louvers block line of sight while allowing free air transfer between corridors and mechanical rooms. The catalog includes specialized security models equipped with 12-gauge steel screens and tamper-proof fasteners, making them a standard specification for schools and detention facilities requiring high-abuse tolerance. only our renowned sealing systems but also other distinguished lines like Intumet™, Advantage Lites and Louvers™, and Ind-Ex™. As part of the Allegion family, alongside esteemed brands like Glynn-Johnson® and Ives®, Zero stands as a testament to quality, innovation, and reliability in the architectural hardware landscape.
Intumet™ Fire and Smoke Protection
Intumet™ is a proprietary intumescent material used in Zero International gasketing systems. This material functions as a passive fire stop that remains inactive during normal use. It expands significantly when exposed to the extreme heat of a fire. The expansion fills the clearance gaps between the door and the frame to create a tight barrier. This seal blocks the passage of flames, smoke, and toxic gases. Builders and architects specify this technology to meet positive-pressure fire testing standards. Common applications include head and jamb gasketing, automatic door bottoms, meeting stiles, glazing tape, and through-wall penetrations.
